CLOSED: Summer Sessions 2024: Operational and Fundraising Planning, Boilerplate Writing
Benvenuti Arts is launching “Summer Sessions” in 2024 to help small arts groups and individual artists set aside the time for the big, strategic projects that always seem to get bumped off of the to-do list. These practical, multi-part courses are centered on the actual CREATION of the needed documents, which include:
- Operations Planning: You will finish this session with a simple three-year operating plan with annual goals, quarterly metrics for year one, and a three–year budget based on the plan. Note: This is not a full strategic planning process, which is typically longer with stakeholder interviews and Board support. Instead we will help you determine what their ambitious and achievable goals are in this process.
- Fundraising Planning: You will finish this session with a one-year fundraising plan that includes a robust grants calendar with solid prospects, the outline for an individual campaign, and a calendar that includes these items, as well as cultivation, events, and more, as is appropriate for each group.
- Boilerplate Writing: You will be walked through the creation of a robust boilerplate of language that can then be used in grant writing, along with Consultant and peer feedback to help you clarify your language.
Sessions include:
- Three Consultant-led working meetings of 2 to 2.5 hours focused on the creation of these documents. These are based on Benvenuti Arts’ own processes for creating these documents;
- Two 30-minute one-on-ones with a Benvenuti Arts Consultant to go over your work, independent from the group, providing insight and edits;
- Templates and tools for all documents;
- Tools and trainings for how to use these documents in a practical way throughout your year; and
- Peer feedback from others in the Session (each Session has space for up to 10 groups).
These sessions are targeted to arts organizations with budgets of under $750K and independent artists who don’t have the time to create these on their own or the resources to pay an outside consultant for these services. Benvenuti Arts values the creation of these items at $3,500-$5,000 when created by our team. You will get the expertise, process, guidance, and one-on-one time to create these yourself at a highly discounted rate.
Institutional Fundraising: What now?
As we continue to navigate these unknown waters, Benvenuti Arts is here to help you continue building your funder relationships. We’re adapting the institutional (grants) fundraising portion of our workshop, Demystifying the Fundraising Process, to address these uncertain times. In this workshop, we’ll review the basics of foundation and government grant processes, writing a strong application, and then discuss strategies around relationship-building while your projects are restricted by the coronavirus.
This session is designed specifically for organizations with a budget of $250,000 or less and a small staff.
You will leave the workshop with a copy of Benvenuti Arts’ A Simple Guide to Institutional Fundraising in the Arts. In addition, each participating organization and independent artist will receive one-on-one time with Founder Sarah Benvenuti!
What is included:
- One 2-hour workshop on institutional fundraising with practical, tactical output.
- Time to ask Sarah Benvenuti your specific questions.
- A free 30-minute consultation with Sarah Benvenuti, usable within 3 months of the workshop.

The Benvenuti Arts Fundraising Workshop was incredibly helpful. My producing partner and I run a fledgling arts organization. Sarah walked us through the basics of multiple approaches to fundraising, all with context from her experience in the field. This helped us understand not just how to fund raise, but the trends and contexts to help us refine our approach. Sarah’s personalized support, including a personal consultation, helped us refocus our strategy towards fundraising, and gave us clear first steps, as well as long-term goals and plans. I cannot recommend her workshop enough.
